We waited all winter to be able to finally say this: Spring is here! Now that the days are getting longer and warmer, what are you going to do to take advantage? If you’re still in a winter mindset, we have some suggestions for you.
Ride a bike
One of the easiest ways to explore, get active, enjoy the outdoors, and the company of others, all while sticking to your health and fitness goals, is to hop on your bicycle. A simple ride through your neighborhood can be all you need to increase your heart rate, keep you healthy, and spend some quality time with those who are important to you.
Because riding a bicycle is considered an aerobic exercise, it’s easy on the joints and is also great for your cardiovascular health. A short bike ride allows you to burn the same number of calories with a short, intense workout as you can exercising at a longer, more leisurely pace.
Take a hike
Even if you’re not close to any significant mountains or hills, walking is one of the best activities for low impact, effective exercise. Take in the beauty of springtime as you wander through the woods (or your neighborhood) and increase your cardiovascular health at the same time. Being outside in nature is a fantastic way to clear your mind a healthy, natural way.
Grow a garden
This may be surprising, but gardening can be a great form of exercise. Not only is it therapeutic, but it can also be a little strenuous. With constant moving, pulling, twisting, turning and use of the entire body, planting a garden is no walk in the park. In addition to the exercise benefits, once the garden is up and growing, planting healthy foods means you’ll have your own supply to choose form in your health and fitness journey.
