Rain Showers Don’t Need to Damper Exercise
Although we’re a few days into May, it seems like April’s showers have decided to hang around a little while longer. And if you’re not a member of a gym, these rainy skies and dark clouds may be putting a damper on your exercise routine.
But don’t fret! We’re here with some suggestions for you!
You can effectively do many cardio exercises from the comfort of your home. Cardio exercise, also referred to as aerobic exercise, involves large muscle groups and raises your heart rate, strengthening your heart and your lungs.
Do you live in a two-story house? If so, you likely have stairs, and you can use those to your advantage. They can mimic a stairclimber in a gym – all you need to do is go up and down (and up and down and up and down) the stairs multiple times in quick succession.
If you have access to the internet (and we suspect you do if you’re reading our blog!), you also have access to hundreds – if not thousands – of workout videos online. You can find anything from karate to yoga on YouTube.
And if you have chairs in your house, you’re in luck! There are dozens of exercises you can do in your kitchen or dining room! This link will take you to just a few of them.
The fitness magazine Shape has even designed a 20-minute cardio routine you can do at home.
Whether it’s raining or snowing or you simply don’t feel like leaving your house, you still have a plethora of wonderful options to help keep your body healthy!
