Our mentality shifts and our actions tend to follow. But here are some fun, easy ways to keep living a healthy life even when you’re not in your typical routine.
Eat like it’s a weekday. It doesn’t really make much sense to eat differently on the weekend than you do during the week – especially if your food choices during the week keep you fueled and energized – but a lot of people do. It’s easy to eat more when you’re at gatherings or simply have more time on your hands.
Stick with your normal sleep schedule! It’s tempting to stay up late and watch Jimmy Kimmel live, or to sleep way in and get up when it’s time for brunch, but those things can throw your body more out of whack than you might realize. So, stay with what your body knows and watch Kimmel online the next day.
Get outside. Smell fresh air. Listen to the birds. Connect with nature. It’s one of the best, most relaxing things you can do for yourself, and the weekend is likely your best time to do it. Even if you can’t quickly run to a National Park and see nature at its absolute finest, you probably CAN go for a leisurely stroll around your neighborhood, and sometimes that can be just as good!
